Sentinels of the Multiverse: Disparation Expansion

Created by Greater Than Games

This new expansion to the hit cooperative comic book card game Sentinels of the Multiverse explores the heroes, villains, and environments of the Multiverse — those who travel through it, those who have been touched by its vast impossibilities, and those who would seek to destroy it!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

November Robot Update!
9 days ago – Tue, Nov 12, 2024 at 08:16:50 AM

Hey, folks!

Sorry about no update last week — I got in to the office to find water running down the walls of my office and of our streaming room (where all the expensive A/V equipment lives) and so last week ended up being pretty damn challenging for a variety of reasons. But we're somewhat recovered and mostly dry over here now and I'm back to working on stuff!

Still putting the final polish on files, but with no work travel this month, I have the highest of hopes and the time to actually execute them! Progress!

The last time I showed off Hero deck stuff, Omnitron-X was rudely left out. Time to correct that! Here's some robot stuff:

Unsurprisingly, Omnitron-X has Item cards:

There are also some interesting Ongoing cards:

And One-Shots that make everything work smoothly:

And there's even more!

See you next month for more!

Development and Preproduction in the Final Stages! Some Villain Reveals!
about 2 months ago – Tue, Oct 01, 2024 at 07:56:00 AM

Good morning, everyone!

It's actually afternoon for me right now! I'm in the city of Essen in Germany for the Essen Spiel convention this coming weekend. But I'll be back home next week, and there, I'll be working with our Super-powered Graphic Designer, Rae, on finishing up all the layouts and files! The goal is to have everything for Disparation to the printer by the end of this month, and we're on track to make that happen — the majority of things are already done, and we just have a few decks and components and the finishing touches left! That puts us squarely to print in a way that seems likely we won't run into any major holidays that could delay production. If that's the case, we should have Disparation in hand Q1 of next year. Either way, we'll be able to get Disparation to you in the first half of next year; it's just a question of how early into next year you'll get it. Things are moving along and looking good, but there are a number of variables on the printing side. Fortunately, as we pass milestones and move towards actually fully wrapping up this project, I'll still be here with regular updates to let you know where things are and how the process is going!

Oh, and also, I'm here to reveal things from the nigh-upcoming expansion! Let's take a look at four of the villains, in particular.

La Capitan has numerous powerful crew members, each of whom both help her steal stuff, but also take the fight to the heroes. Chip is one of them!

Also, she has a variety of tricks involving thievery, leading her crew, and — of course — her ship.

La Capitan is one of the more straightforward villains in Disparation, but she's no slouch! And even for being comparatively straightforward, she has a lot of cool moves up her piratey sleeves.

The Dreamer is plagued by her nightmares as they come to life to torment her and attack the heroes!

Fortunately, there are options for keeping her safe and helping her recover while you wade through the nightmares, destroying them as fast as you can without hurting young Vanessa Long.

If you can save her from herself and her nightmares, you can save the world.

Once you've revealed that the seemingly mild-mannered Aminia Twain is in fact the villainous Miss Information (WHAT?! Spoilers!), then the fight is really on! In order to do so, you'll need to assemble Clues...

And whether she's in the form of your former secretary (it's safe to assume that she's fired after this) or in her revealed villainous form, the Distractions she keeps sending your way are going to be trouble!

Not all the Distractions are imposters like these ones (note that flavor text...), but they are all dangerous to the heroes and either working for Miss Information, or at least sent into the heroes' path by her machinations.

Finally, a far too familiar face takes up the mantle of villainy. Iron Legacy is terrible not just due to his strength and power, but because of what he represents.

If Paul Parsons can fall so far and lash out in his desperation, who can be truly good?

Harrowing. Can you stop one of the greatest heroes?

See you next month for another update with more reveals and more behind-the-scenes info!

Some Environmental Reveals!
3 months ago – Tue, Sep 03, 2024 at 09:42:14 AM

Good morning to all you friends, fans, and foes! Which one are you? Up to you to decide! I'm not a cop!

I'm travelling back home from a greatly successful PAX West, and I'm eager to get back to brass tacks on wrapping up Disparation, but I have some Environment cards to show off today! (Will updates from here on out include reveals? That's certainly my intention!)

Let's start with some Ænguish and Ægony in Æternus!

Captain Cosmic is far from perfect, but I doubt he deserves so much torment. (Also, yes, there are two sets of " at the start of that quote and there should only be one. Already noted in the editing pass!")

Moving on so Silver Gulch, 1883. What order am I going in? Entirely random!

He seems a pleasant fellow!

Time to visit a prison outside time and space!

At least one person pictured on this card is having a very bad day. Probably both, though.

I really enjoy the flavor text on this card from The Final Wasteland:

Is this the first reference in Definitive Edition to La Comodora? It might be! (It also might not be. I'm still exhausted from PAX.)

Finally, Darkstrife really doesn't like this mummy from the Tomb of Anubis:

Such language! Inappropriate!

I hope to have an updated and accurate timeline for you in next month's update! I'm still waiting to hear back on a few things that will determine dates, so I'd rather give you solid data next month than vague vibes now. But we're into the home stretch for reals!

See you next month!

Gen Con Disparation!
4 months ago – Tue, Aug 06, 2024 at 06:40:04 AM

Greetings, Sentinels!

Our work at Gen Con wrapped up less than a day ago, but we're getting back in the saddle to wrap up Disparation! Between my Thursday morning preview event and our Thursday evening Playtest Party event, we got to show off Disparation to quite a few folks at Gen Con! I didn't think to take any pictures, as I was so focused on running the games and making sure everything went smoothly. However, I did see one photo someone got of one of the tables, which I will post here (uncredited as I'm not certain who to credit — I got it from a screen shot of a screen shot!)

OOooh, cards!

But that's not enough cards! I should show you some cards from Hero decks, as well!

Let's start with...

Ah! Excellent! A bounty that expands on the Chrono-Ranger and Con story and provides a mechanical way to get rid of small but troublesome targets.

What else do I have here...?

Oh, this is a fun effect. I enjoy having the occasional rare or even unique effect that does something niche but REALLY situationally powerful, like this card that can straight up just cancel a discover effect. Plus, a useful power that tempts you to get in touch with your Dark side (deck)!

Let's see...

Bam! A useful card that gives K.N.Y.F.E. some focus, since she usually goes wide with damage, rather than deep. Also, I love that flavor text. He thought they were friends!

How about a different art style?

This card does a lot! It's got the Parse Ongoing card boilerplate, a useful ally support power, and an end phase that you can use a couple different ways. Plus, actual friendship!

Speaking of friendship, let's wrap up with these two:

This card is both a Soul card AND an Æterna card, so it gets some of the card background treatment of both! Plus, it gives you all the classic Darkstrife and Painstake stuff: drawing cards, discarding cards of a specific type for a thematically appropriate effect, Zane being all edgy. The hits and only the hits!

Will upcoming updates have more reveals? Yes! Will ALL of the updates for the rest of this year have reveals? That is my intention! So, stay tuned for more!

Until next time, keep on saving the Multiverse!

July! Work continues!
5 months ago – Tue, Jul 02, 2024 at 12:10:21 PM

Good afternoon, everyone.

Sentinels of the Multiverse: Disparation is still underway, but it's going well and getting better all the time. I had a meeting this morning with our intrepid and frankly badass graphic designer Rae about what needs to happen for final layout, and she's already underway with many elements of this game. Things are going well! Things are taking WAY longer than expected! Two things can be true.

I am disappointed that this is taking as long as it has, and it's not just because of my medical exciting times earlier this year — the development cycle on Disparation has been rough, largely due to how ambitious of a project this is. And the next Sentinels of the Multiverse project will be ambitious, as well! Fortunately, we've learned a lot from this project, and we will be MUCH further along before going to crowdfunding with a Sentinels product ever again. So, apologies for the delays, but we didn't want to skimp on quality and we likely jumped the gun with an early launch. I absolutely understand any impatience — I want it done and perfect and in my hands NOW! I get it! And it's still moving along and doing well. Just, y'know, bear with us.

If you're going to be at Gen Con, I'll have some Disparation content with me to show off, and I very much look forward to doing so! As for updates here, the next month's update will be on the Tuesday just after Gen Con, so we'll be pretty beat, but not without content to share! Things I'm putting together to show off at Gen Con can be revealed in that update! I look forward to doing so.

Oh, I almost forgot! Trevor made a VERY cool video about Rook City Renegades. It's pretty long, but worth it. Check it out!

Until next time, keep on saving the Multiverse!
